- Start of Game
At the start of a race, the starting positions for the players are randomly chosen. Like in a real race, the pole position will give you a head start, however it will by far not guarantee the final winning.
CheckpointsTo win, you not only need to pass the finish line as the first player, but also need to have passed all checkpoints (dotted lines) on the track at least once. The number of unpassed checkpoints is shown as black dots on the color pencil. They turn white for each passed checkpoint.
End of GameWhen all players have passed the finish line (and visited all checkpoints), the game is over (in classic mode we won't wait for the last driver, though). You will be presented an overview of all winners then. Though the most skilled driver will usually win in the end (no matter what start-position he was assigned to), a bit of luck allowing to start from a better position will definitely help to to beat equally strong drivers.
While in classic mode the winner is always the first who passes the finishline, in challenge mode he is only determined after everyone finished and the final scores are known. The one with the highest score in the end will be the winner!
Now you can view the complete race again, print it, save it as a photo or pin it to your Facebook wall.
CrashesWhen there is no possible next free target position on your next turn, a crash will occur. Depending on your last speed you need to skip one or two turns. Then you will start close to the accident position with speed zero.
Have a Break
Accidents can also occur if you are not directly crashing into a track border. You will also suffer a crash if another player is blocking your way with his current position, leaving no free next position for you to dodge him.Tapping on the color pencil symbol allows you to shortly pause the game and e.g. look at the current scores. As the game master you can now also cancel the game, or as a guest driver just resign, so that all other players can continue the race without you.
If the pen blocks your view of an important piece of the track right now, you can just move it elsewhere.
Zooming and ScrollingOf course you can scroll and zoom the track to get the best view for mastering the challenges ahead or plan the optimal route. You use two fingers for zooming as well as for scrolling.
At any point in time you can change the orientation of your iPhone or iPod as you desire. Dash Race works for all orientations on these devices.
